AMG Mountain Grey PPF | Self-Healing TPU Color Film
$260.00 USD
1.52*3m(5*9.8ft) / AMG Grey

AMG Mountain Grey gives your car that cool, deep grey look pulled straight from the high-performance world. It reads dark and serious in low light, then opens up to a smooth stone grey under the sun. The finish stays even across panels, so the whole car looks like it rolled out of the booth that way.

The difference here is what sits under the color. This is real paint protection film, not vinyl. The same 7.5mil (330um) TPU layer that carries the grey also takes the rock chips, road grime, and scratches that would otherwise hit your factory paint. You get the color you want and a hard shield over the paint underneath, in one film.

Key features

  • Self-healing topcoat: minor scratches and swirl marks fade out with heat from the sun or a heat gun.
  • Hydrophobic surface: water and dirt bead off instead of sticking, so the film stays cleaner for longer.
  • Acid rain and oxidation resistant: holds up against acid rain, oxidation and yellowing over years of daily driving.
  • Stain and penetration resistant: bird droppings, tree sap and grease do not soak into the film.
  • Flexible and tear resistant: high elongation and tensile strength let it stretch over curves without cracking.
  • Mirror-gloss finish: the glass-crystal top layer boosts paint depth and gloss by up to 40 percent and smooths out orange peel.
  • Removable adhesive: peels off cleanly with heat, with no glue residue left behind.
  • Bubble-free install: designed to lay flat without bubbling, warping or lifting at the edges.

Frequently asked questions

How long does AMG Mountain Grey PPF last on my car?

With normal care you can expect 7 to 10 years of service from this film, and it carries an 8-year warranty. The TPU base and cashew topcoat are built to hold the grey color and keep protecting the paint for years, not months.

What is the difference between this and a vinyl wrap?

Vinyl only decorates. It puts color on the surface and that is all it does. AMG Mountain Grey is paint protection film, so it gives you the same matte grey look while the 7.5mil TPU layer absorbs rock chips and scratches that vinyl would let through to your paint. Color plus armor in one film.

Does AMG Mountain Grey PPF self-heal?

Yes. The cashew topcoat is self-healing. Light swirl marks and fine scratches close up on their own with warmth from the sun or some warm water, so the grey finish keeps looking clean without you buffing it out.

Will the grey color fade over time?

The film blocks 95 to 98 percent of UV, which is the main thing that fades color. That UV barrier is why AMG Mountain Grey holds its tone instead of going dull or patchy, and it is part of why the film is backed for 8 years.

Does this film remove cleanly later?

Yes. When you want it off, the film lifts away and the Ashland adhesive is made to release without tearing up your factory paint. Since the grey lives in the film and not on your actual paint, your original color is untouched underneath.

How much film do I need for my car?

The roll is 1.52m wide and comes in 3m, 6m, 9m, and 15m lengths. A few panels like the hood and mirrors take a shorter length, while a full vehicle wrap needs one of the longer rolls. Measure the panels you want covered, add a little for trimming, then pick the length that fits.

Can I install AMG Mountain Grey PPF myself?

Yes, this is a wet-install film, which gives you time to slide it into place and push the slip solution out before it sets. DIYers do panels like hoods, roofs, and mirror caps at home. Full wraps with tight curves are tougher, so for a whole car many people bring in an installer.

Is AMG Mountain Grey a matte or gloss finish?

It is a deep matte grey. The flat finish is what gives it that muted, factory-performance look rather than a shiny mirror surface, and the self-healing topcoat still protects the color the same way.
