Midnight Purple Metallic Car Wrap | Vinyl Film

Midnight Purple is a deep, dark purple with fine metal flake worked into the color layer. In the shade it reads almost black with a quiet violet pull, the kind of color that makes people look twice without shouting. Roll it into direct sun and the flake wakes up, throwing a glossy purple sparkle that shifts as you walk around the car. It is the moody, rich purple that real metallic respray fans chase, without the body shop bill.
This is a color-change wrap, so it does more than look good. The film lays a tough layer over your factory paint and takes the daily hits for it, the road grime, the car wash swirls, the parking lot rash. Your original paint stays sealed and protected underneath, and when you want a fresh look later the wrap comes off and the paint is still there.

Key features
- Deep metallic sparkle: fine metal flake runs through the color layer, so the finish reads rich in the shade and glints with sparkle in direct sun.
- Glossy depth: a clear topcoat over the flake gives a wet, glossy shine with real depth, the same look factory metallic paint gets from flake in the basecoat.
- Air-release adhesive: built-in air channels push bubbles out, so the film lays flat and you can reposition as you work.
- Conforms to curves: the polymeric PVC stretches over mirrors, bumpers and body lines for a smooth, seamless wrap.
- Protects the paint underneath: the wrap takes the daily wear while your factory paint stays sealed and original.
- Removable: peels off cleanly later with heat, so you can change the look or go back to stock.

Frequently asked questions
What does the metallic flake actually do on Midnight Purple?
The fine metal flake sits inside the color layer and catches light. In low light Midnight Purple looks deep and almost black, and in direct sun the flake lights up and gives the purple a bright, glossy sparkle. That shift between shade and sun is what makes a metallic wrap look different from a flat solid color.
Does the wrap have a rough or grainy texture?
No. The flake is part of the printed color layer, not on the surface. The top of the film is a smooth gloss finish, so Midnight Purple feels slick to the touch and reflects light cleanly like glossy paint. The sparkle is something you see, not something you feel.
Will wrapping damage my paint, or does it protect it?
A clean, factory finish in good shape is not harmed by the wrap. The film actually shields the paint underneath from daily wear, light scratches, wash swirls, and sun fade. When it is removed properly the original paint is still there. This is a cosmetic color wrap, so it is not a thick everyday scratches and road film film, but it does take the everyday hits instead of your paint.
How is this different from a real metallic purple respray?
A custom metallic flake respray costs a lot, takes your car off the road for days, and is hard to match or fix if it gets damaged. Midnight Purple metallic vinyl gives you that deep flaked purple look for far less, goes on much faster, protects the factory paint instead of removing it, and peels off cleanly when you want a change. A respray is permanent, this is not.
How do I wash and care for the wrap?
Hand washing is best. Use a mild car soap, a soft mitt, and rinse well. Dry with a clean microfiber to keep the gloss looking sharp. Skip harsh solvents and aggressive automatic brushes. Clean off bird droppings, fuel splashes, and bug splatter quickly so they do not sit on the film. With good care the wrap holds its look for years, and a garage-kept car will keep that Midnight Purple sparkle even longer.
Can I install Midnight Purple myself at home?
Yes. The film uses a Henkel solvent-based acrylic air-release adhesive, so trapped air pushes out to the edges through tiny channels instead of leaving bubbles. That makes it much more forgiving for a DIY install. You can run a dry or wet install. Take your time on curves and recessed areas with a heat gun, and a clean garage out of wind and dust helps a lot. First-timers often start with smaller panels.
Does the wrap remove cleanly later?
When the wrap has been on a sound factory finish and is removed with gentle heat, it lifts away cleanly and leaves the paint underneath intact. Pull slow and warm the film as you go. Any light adhesive left behind wipes off with an adhesive remover. That clean removal is a big reason people pick a wrap over a permanent respray.
How much film do I need for my car?
It depends on the size of your vehicle. As a rough guide, a small car needs around 50 to 55 feet for a full wrap, a sedan around 60 to 65 feet, and a large SUV or truck more. Buy extra for mistakes, mirrors, door jambs, and complex curves. These rolls come in 30ft (9m) and 59ft (18m) lengths, so you can combine lengths to match your project and keep a little spare.
