Volcano Grey is a deep charcoal grey with fine metal flake mixed right into the color layer. In open sun the flake wakes up and throws tiny sparkles across the panel, giving the grey a molten, rolling shimmer like cooling lava. Pull into shade or a covered garage and it settles into a moody, smoky gunmetal that reads almost solid. It is one color that shifts with the light all day.
This is a glossy color-change wrap, so the surface stays smooth and reflective, not textured. It goes on over your factory paint and acts as a daily shield against light scuffs, road grime, bug splatter, and sun fade, while keeping the paint underneath sealed and original. When you want a change later, it comes back off and your real finish is still there.

Key features
- Deep metallic sparkle: fine metal flake runs through the color layer, so the finish reads rich in the shade and glints with sparkle in direct sun.
- Glossy depth: a clear topcoat over the flake gives a wet, glossy shine with real depth, the same look factory metallic paint gets from flake in the basecoat.
- Air-release adhesive: built-in air channels push bubbles out, so the film lays flat and you can reposition as you work.
- Conforms to curves: the polymeric PVC stretches over mirrors, bumpers and body lines for a smooth, seamless wrap.
- Protects the paint underneath: the wrap takes the daily wear while your factory paint stays sealed and original.
- Removable: peels off cleanly later with heat, so you can change the look or go back to stock.

Frequently asked questions
What does the metallic flake actually do on Volcano Grey?
The flake is fine metal mixed into the color layer itself, not a coating on top. It catches and bounces light, so Volcano Grey sparkles and looks alive in the sun instead of flat. The same flake is what gives the grey its depth in lower light.
How different does it look in sun versus shade?
A lot. Direct sun lights up the flake and the panel reads as a bright, shimmering charcoal with visible sparkle. In shade or indoors it calms down into a deep, smoky gunmetal grey that looks nearly solid. People often think it is two colors until they see the car move between light and shadow.
Is the surface textured or smooth?
Smooth. This is a gloss metallic, so the flake sits inside the color layer and the top of the film is a flat, glossy, reflective surface. You feel a slick finish, not grit or texture, and it wipes clean like glossy paint.
Will wrapping hurt my paint or actually protect it?
It protects it. Volcano Grey lays over healthy factory paint and shields it from daily wear like light scratches, road grime, bug residue, and sun fade. The paint stays sealed underneath, and when the wrap is removed properly the original finish is still there.
Why pick a metallic wrap instead of a metallic respray?
A real metallic-flake respray is expensive, takes your car off the road for days, and is hard to fix or undo if you change your mind. Volcano Grey gives you a true metallic look for far less, goes on faster, keeps your factory paint safe underneath, and peels off cleanly when you want a new color.
How do I wash and care for it?
Treat it like glossy paint. Hand wash with a soft mitt and pH-neutral car soap, rinse well, and pat dry to avoid water spots. Skip harsh solvents and stiff brushes. Wipe off fuel, bird droppings, and bug splatter quickly. Park in a garage when you can, since covered wraps hold their shimmer longer and last for years with good care.
Can I install Volcano Grey myself?
Yes, with patience. The Henkel solvent-based acrylic adhesive has air-release channels that let trapped air escape, so bubbles are easier to push out and you can reposition while you work. It supports both dry and wet installs. Flat and gently curved panels are very DIY-friendly. Deep recesses and mirrors take more heat and practice.
Does it remove cleanly, and how much film do I need?
Removed properly with gentle heat, it lifts off without tearing up your factory paint and leaves little to no residue on a sound surface. For coverage, a small car usually needs around 50 to 60 ft, a sedan 60 to 65 ft, and a larger SUV or truck 70 ft or more. Roll length comes in 30ft (9m) and 59ft (18m) options, so size up for curves, mistakes, and spares.
