With good care a black matte wrap holds its flat look for years. Cars that live in a garage or under cover last the longest because they get less sun and less heat cycling. Wash it by hand, keep harsh chemicals off it, and the flat black stays even and rich for a long time.

It protects it. The black film sits on top of your factory paint and takes the daily abuse instead, so sun, light scratches and road grime hit the wrap and not the original surface. As long as your paint is in sound condition when it goes on, the wrap shields it and comes off clean later.

Yes. When you are ready for a change, the black film peels away and leaves your factory paint behind, with little to no residue when it is removed properly. A bit of gentle heat helps it release. It stays flat as long as you never buff, wax or polish it. The matte finish is built into the surface of the film, not a coating that wears off, so normal hand washing will not change it.
