Matte Black PPF | Self-Healing TPU Color Film
$260.00 USD
1.52*3m(5*9.8ft) / Matte Black

Matte Black takes the shine off your car and replaces it with a flat, stealthy finish that looks expensive in any light. No glare, no reflections, just a clean blacked-out body that turns heads in the parking lot and on the road. It is the look most people chase with a cheap wrap, except this one does a lot more than sit on top of your paint.

This is colored paint protection film, not vinyl. The same 7.5mil (330um) TPU layer that gives you that deep matte black is also taking the rock chips, bug splatter, door dings, and wash swirls so your factory paint never sees them. You get the murdered-out style you want and a real shield over the panels underneath. One film, both jobs.

Key features

  • Self-healing topcoat: minor scratches and swirl marks fade out with heat from the sun or a heat gun.
  • Hydrophobic surface: water and dirt bead off instead of sticking, so the film stays cleaner for longer.
  • Acid rain and oxidation resistant: holds up against acid rain, oxidation and yellowing over years of daily driving.
  • Stain and penetration resistant: bird droppings, tree sap and grease do not soak into the film.
  • Flexible and tear resistant: high elongation and tensile strength let it stretch over curves without cracking.
  • Mirror-gloss finish: the glass-crystal top layer boosts paint depth and gloss by up to 40 percent and smooths out orange peel.
  • Removable adhesive: peels off cleanly with heat, with no glue residue left behind.
  • Bubble-free install: designed to lay flat without bubbling, warping or lifting at the edges.

Frequently asked questions

How long does Matte Black PPF last on my car?

With normal driving and care you can expect 7 to 10 years of service from this film, and it carries an 8-year warranty. The matte finish holds up because the TPU is built to flex and recover instead of cracking, so the blacked-out look stays consistent for years rather than going patchy.

What is the difference between Matte Black PPF and a matte vinyl wrap?

A vinyl wrap only changes the color. This is a 7.5mil TPU paint protection film, so it gives you the same matte black finish while also absorbing rock chips, scratches, and road debris that would otherwise hit your paint. Vinyl decorates, this colors and protects in one layer.

Does Matte Black PPF self-heal like clear PPF?

Yes. The cashew topcoat is self-healing, so light swirl marks and fine scratches disappear with heat from the sun or warm water. One thing to know with any matte film: heat-healing can leave a glossier spot if you spot-treat one small area, so it is best to warm a whole panel evenly rather than just one scratch.

Will the matte black color fade in the sun?

No. The film blocks 95 to 98 percent of UV, which is what causes color to wash out over time. That UV barrier keeps the matte black deep and even, and it protects the original paint sitting underneath it from sun damage too.

Does Matte Black PPF come off cleanly later?

Yes. The Ashland adhesive is made to hold strong while installed and then release cleanly when you are ready to remove it, leaving your factory paint untouched. That is a big reason people choose colored PPF over a permanent respray when they want a matte black look they can reverse.

How much film do I need for my car?

The roll is 1.52m wide and comes in 3m, 6m, and 9m lengths, plus a 15m roll for full builds. A few panels like the hood and roof usually fit a 6m roll, while a full car wrap typically needs the 15m option. Measure your panels first and add a little extra for trimming around curves and edges.

Can I install Matte Black PPF myself?

Yes, this is a wet-install film, so you lay down slip solution and have time to position and adjust the panel before it sets. Matte film does show fingerprints and contamination more than gloss while you work, so clean hands and a dust-free space help a lot. Many DIY installers handle flat panels at home, while full wraps with deep curves are easier with a second set of hands.

Will Matte Black PPF make my whole car matte, including chrome and trim?

It will make whatever panels you cover matte black, so you can blackout the roof, mirrors, and pillars or go full body for a complete stealth look. Wrapping over chrome trim and badges is a popular way to finish the murdered-out style, and because it is PPF you are protecting those areas while you darken them.
