Star Sky Phantom Gray sits in that dark, moody zone between charcoal and gunmetal, with a fine metallic flake that catches light like a clear night sky. In shade it reads almost black. The difference here is that this is paint protection film, not vinyl. With normal driving and washing you can expect 7 to 10 years of service from this film, and it carries an 8-year warranty. The 7.5mil TPU construction and cashew topcoat are built to hold the dark metallic gray and keep protecting the paint for the long haul.
What is the difference between this colored PPF and a vinyl wrap?

A vinyl wrap only decorates. It sits on top of your paint and adds color, but it does nothing to stop chips or scratches. Star Sky Phantom Gray is paint protection film, so it gives you the same deep gray finish while also taking the hits from rocks, bugs, and grit so your factory paint stays safe underneath.
Does this film really self-heal?

Yes. The cashew topcoat is self-healing, so light swirls and fine scratches close up on their own with warmth from the sun or warm water. That matters even more on a dark color like Phantom Gray, where small marks tend to show. A quick wash and the surface looks even again.
Will the Phantom Gray color fade over time?

It holds up well. The film blocks 95 to 98 percent of UV, which is the main cause of fading on dark finishes. That UV barrier keeps the gray deep and the metallic flake bright instead of going dull or chalky after a couple of summers.
Can I remove it later without wrecking my paint?
